The CHICAGO-LATROBE 43616 is a jobber-length drill bit in Letter E size (0.2500 inches, 1/4 inch) designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from M7 grade high speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance compared to uncoated HSS bits. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and requires less thrust at entry. At 4 inches overall length with a 2-3/4 inch flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length drill chucks. It is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with ferrous and hard materials.
This drill bit is rated for drilling into cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. The two-flute spiral design with regular helix and web-thinned, tapered web configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. The straight cylindrical 1/4-inch shank (1.250 inches shank length) fits directly into standard drill chucks and quick-change holders. It is well suited for production drilling, MRO maintenance work, and fabrication shop environments where tool consistency and long run life are priorities. Series 150ASP-TC indicates heavy duty grade construction built to NAS 907 Type B standards.
Designed for use in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. The 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and quick-change tooling systems accepting 1/4-inch shanks. Series 150ASP-TC, NAS 907 Type B compliant.
This bit is installed and used by machinists and trade professionals operating drill presses, hand drills, or CNC equipment. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits to avoid premature wear. Always use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or cast iron to manage heat buildup, noting this bit does not have internal coolant-through capability. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine guard requirements during operation.
