The CHICAGO-LATROBE 43606 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from M7 high speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, it delivers increased surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The bit measures 3/32 inches in diameter with a 2.25 inch overall length and a 1.25 inch flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force, making it well suited for hard or abrasive workpiece materials. This is a heavy-duty-grade bit intended for professional machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade contractors who drill regularly into ferrous metals.
The 43606 is rated for primary use in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. The right-hand spiral flute with regular helix and tapered web configuration supports efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard 3-jaw chucks across a wide range of drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment. It conforms to NAS 907 Type B standards, which define dimensional and performance requirements for jobber-length drill bits used in aerospace and heavy industrial environments.
