The CHICAGO-LATROBE 42027 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for heavy-duty metal drilling applications. Built from M7 high speed steel and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance compared to uncoated HSS bits. The bit measures 27/64 inch (0.4200 inch decimal) in diameter with a 135-degree notched split point that reduces walking and allows drilling to begin without a center punch in most setups. Overall length is 5-3/8 inches with a parabolic flute design that promotes efficient chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling.

This bit is suited for drilling steel and other ferrous workpiece materials in manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, and trade service environments. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters.
