The CHICAGO-LATROBE 41679 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge No. 9 (0.1960 inches) ground from high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and cutting force at startup, making it effective for production and precision work. A web-thinned, tapered web construction lowers thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation. Overall length is 3-5/8 inches with a 2-7/16 inch spiral flute. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 1-3/16 inches in diameter. Compatibility

Rated for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit. Series 150ASP-TN.

Installation Notes

Install and remove the bit only with the drill fully powered down and unplugged or locked out per applicable LOTO procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck jaws and tighten before operation. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel or hardened steel to maintain edge life. Inspect the cutting edge and TiN coating before each use — a chipped or worn point should be reground or the bit replaced before drilling.
