The CHICAGO-LATROBE 11061 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal fabrication, aerospace maintenance, and general industrial applications. Built to Series 906 specifications and compliant with NAS 907 Type B standards, this bit features a 135-degree split point for self-centering entry without a center punch. The 0.1200-inch diameter corresponds to wire gauge size 31. The oxide finish provides a baseline level of lubricity and corrosion resistance suited for production and maintenance drilling environments. Two spiral flutes with a tapered web and web-thinned geometry promote chip evacuation and reduce walking on entry.
This drill bit is intended for use in applications requiring extended reach beyond what a jobber-length bit provides. The 6-inch overall length and 1.625-inch flute length make it well suited for drilling in confined spaces, through structural assemblies, or into recessed areas on aircraft structures, sheet metal panels, and mechanical assemblies. It is commonly used by aerospace technicians, sheet metal workers, and MRO professionals. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.1200-inch diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and quick-change holders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for wire gauge size 31 aircraft extension drill bits meeting NAS 907 Type B standards. Fits any standard drill chuck or quick-change system accepting a 0.1200-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation of this drill bit is performed by machinists, aerospace technicians, and sheet metal workers using hand drills, drill presses, or pneumatic drilling equipment. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck tightness to prevent slippage. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Follow applicable workplace safety standards and equipment manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed rates appropriate to the material being drilled.
