The Charlotte Pipe Foundry PVC042000600 is a Schedule 40 cell core (foam core) PVC pipe designed for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) applications in non-pressure systems. Measuring 2 inches in diameter and 10 feet in length, it ships with plain ends ready for solvent-cement socket fittings. The foam core construction reduces pipe weight compared to solid-wall PVC while maintaining the Schedule 40 outer diameter, making it easier to handle on the job site without sacrificing dimensional compatibility. This pipe meets ASTM F-891 for cellular-core PVC pipe and NSF Standard 14 for plastic piping components used in potable-water and drain systems.
This pipe is used in residential and light commercial DWV rough-in work, including drain lines, waste stacks, and vent runs in above-ground, non-pressure installations. Plumbers install it inside walls, floor assemblies, and utility chases where a lighter-weight Schedule 40-compatible pipe delivers cost and handling advantages. It is not rated for pressure service or outdoor UV exposure without protective coating. Applications include bathroom, kitchen, and laundry drain lines as well as sanitary vent stacks in new construction and remodel projects.
Designed for use with standard Schedule 40 PVC DWV fittings and solvent-cement systems in non-pressure drain, waste, and vent applications per ASTM F-891.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off all water supply and verify the system is depressurized before cutting into any existing drain line. Use a PVC-rated pipe cutter or fine-tooth saw, deburr cut ends thoroughly, and apply primer and solvent cement rated for PVC DWV service. This pipe is for non-pressure, above-ground DWV use only and must not be used in pressure systems or direct burial without verifying local code allowances for cell core pipe.
