The CENTURY DRILL TOOL CO INC 95102 is a 3/16-inch by 32 thread-per-inch plug tap ground to National Special (NS) SAE thread standards. Constructed from tungsten steel, it is designed to cut internal threads in pre-drilled holes for standard SAE fastener applications. A plug tap features a chamfer of roughly 3 to 5 threads, making it the most common choice for threading through-holes and moderately deep blind holes. It is packaged in a quantity of 2 and is used with a 5/32-inch drill bit to produce the correct minor diameter before threading.
This tap is suited for threading operations in metal fabrication, mechanical repair, and maintenance work across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general trade service environments. It is appropriate wherever a 3/16-inch by 32 NS thread must be cut or restored in steel, aluminum, or similar materials. The plug chamfer geometry makes it a practical general-purpose tap for field and shop use.
Designed for use in any application requiring a 3/16-inch by 32 National Special SAE internal thread, used with a 5/32-inch tap drill bit.
Tapping operations should be performed by a qualified tradesperson or machinist familiar with proper thread-cutting technique. Before tapping, drill the pilot hole to the specified 5/32-inch diameter and deburr the entry. Apply cutting oil throughout the operation and back the tap off periodically to break chips and reduce the risk of tap breakage. Never force a tap into a hole that is undersized or misaligned.
