The CAVAGNA 998lp-28 is a second-stage liquefied petroleum gas regulator designed to reduce intermediate line pressure to a stable appliance-ready delivery pressure. It features female pipe thread (FPT) inlet and outlet connections sized at 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch respectively, with an outlet pressure range of 9 to 13 inches water column (WC). The unit includes a vent-over-outlet design, which positions the relief vent above the outlet to help prevent moisture and debris intrusion. Licensed gas technicians and plumbers install this regulator as part of a two-stage LP distribution system serving residential or light commercial appliances.
This regulator is used in two-stage propane distribution systems where a first-stage regulator has already reduced tank pressure to an intermediate level, typically 10 PSI or less. The 998lp-28 handles the second reduction, bringing line pressure down to the 9-13 inch WC range required by most LP appliances. Typical installations include residential homes, rural properties, and light commercial buildings supplied by propane storage tanks. The vent-over-outlet configuration suits installations where the regulator may be exposed to weather or installed near grade.
Designed as an OEM-style second-stage LP gas regulator for use in two-stage propane distribution systems with 1/2 inch FPT inlet and 3/4 inch FPT outlet piping configurations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed gas technician or qualified plumber in accordance with NFPA 58, local codes, and the appliance manufacturer requirements. Shut off the LP gas supply at the tank and verify zero line pressure before removing any existing regulator or fittings. Ensure all threaded connections are sealed with an approved gas-rated thread sealant and leak-tested with approved solution after pressurizing. Do not exceed the rated inlet pressure for this stage of regulation.
