The CAVAGNA 988hp-01 is a first-stage propane regulator designed to reduce high inlet pressure from a storage container down to a medium-level outlet pressure suitable for feeding a second-stage regulator downstream. Rated at 10 PSI outlet pressure with a flow capacity of 2,400,000 BTU/h, this regulator handles supplying pressures ranging from 25 to 250 PSIG. The aluminum body and cover provide durability with reduced weight, while stainless steel cover screws resist corrosion in outdoor service. It is installed by licensed gas technicians on commercial and residential propane systems requiring two-stage pressure regulation.
The 988hp-01 is intended for Type A or Type C propane installations and must be mounted outdoors in the correct orientation with the vent hole turned downward. The 3/4-inch inlet and 3/4-inch outlet connections suit typical high-pressure propane line configurations. In its standard configuration, the regulator ships with the vent hole oriented in line with the outlet fitting, so the installer must confirm and adjust orientation to the downward position during mounting. Flow performance is rated based on 25 PSIG inlet pressure with a 20 percent pressure drop, in accordance with UL 144.
Designed for Type A and Type C propane installations requiring first-stage pressure regulation, for use upstream of a compatible second-stage regulator in two-stage propane distribution systems.
Installation must be performed by a qualified gas technician in accordance with applicable local codes and NFPA 58 requirements. The regulator must be mounted outdoors only, with the vent hole oriented downward to prevent moisture and debris accumulation. Shut off all propane supply at the tank before disconnecting or connecting any regulator. Do not install indoors or in enclosed spaces, and confirm outlet orientation matches the required vent-down position before placing into service.
