The CARRIER 40vmw005---3 is a ductless Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) high wall indoor unit rated at 5,000 BTU/h cooling capacity and 6,000 BTU/h heating capacity, operating on R-410A refrigerant. Designed for single-phase, 208-230 VAC service at 60 Hz, this unit mounts directly to an interior wall and connects to a compatible outdoor VRF condensing unit via flare fittings. Airflow ranges from 245 to 320 CFM across three blower motor speeds, with a sound level as low as 31.7 dBA making it suitable for noise-sensitive spaces. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this unit as part of a VRF system installation.
The 40vmw005---3 is intended for residential and light-commercial ductless VRF applications where a compact, wall-mounted indoor unit is required. Its small tonnage rating of 0.42 tons makes it appropriate for individual rooms or zones requiring precise capacity control. The unit is finished in white and ships ready for high wall installation. Refrigerant line connections use flare fittings: a 1/4-inch OD liquid line and a 1/2-inch OD suction line. The maximum overcurrent protection (MOCP) is 15 amps, and the unit is ETL Listed and UL Listed for compliance in permitted installations.
Designed for use within the CARRIER 40VMW product family as a ductless VRF high wall indoor unit. Specific compatible outdoor unit pairings should be confirmed against CARRIER VRF system engineering documentation prior to installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding EPA Section 608 certification for R-410A refrigerant handling. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before making any wiring or refrigerant connections. Flare connections must be made carefully to manufacturer torque specifications found in the installation manual to prevent refrigerant leaks. Verify local mechanical and electrical code requirements, including NEC guidelines for overcurrent protection sizing, before energizing the system.
