The CARRHILL PR1 is a 1-inch MIPT steel to MDPE gas transition riser designed to connect medium-density polyethylene underground gas piping to above-grade steel service lines. This fitting bridges the material transition at the point where a buried MDPE gas main or service line emerges from the ground and connects to a steel riser or meter set. It ships without an anode, making it appropriate for installations where cathodic protection is handled separately or is not required by local code. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters are the typical installing trade for this type of transition fitting.

This transition riser is used in residential and light commercial gas distribution applications where underground MDPE piping terminates at a meter set, service entrance, or above-grade appliance connection. The 1-inch MIPT steel end connects to standard threaded steel pipe or fittings on the above-grade side, while the MDPE end is heat-fused or mechanically coupled to the buried plastic gas main below grade. The without-anode configuration is selected when the installer is providing a separate anode or when the local utility or AHJ specifies an anode-free riser.
