The CARMEX SR0500J14C is an indexable thread mill designed for precision internal and external thread milling in metal cutting applications. Built from solid carbide, the toolholder accepts one IE-style insert in 14 mm insert size, secured by a screw-clamp holding method. The 0.5-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 0.375-inch shank and neck diameter, and the tool runs 6.0 inches overall in length. Through-coolant capability directs fluid directly to the cutting zone, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in demanding threading operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in shop environments.
The SR0500J14C is suited for thread milling operations on CNC machining centers where precise thread forms are required. Its SR toolholder style and solid carbide construction make it appropriate for threading in hardened steels, stainless, aluminum, and similar machinable alloys. The through-coolant port is particularly useful in deep or blind-hole thread milling where chip packing is a concern. Compatible insert key designation is K14 and insert screw designation is S14, allowing straightforward insert replacement without returning the toolholder.
Designed for use with IE-style 14 mm threading inserts. Insert key designation K14 and insert screw designation S14 are required for proper insert retention. Confirm toolholder style SR and insert size compatibility before ordering inserts separately.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle powered down and locked out per shop LOTO procedures. Ensure the shank is properly seated and clamped in the toolholder or collet chuck to the tool manufacturer's specified pull-out retention standard before spindle engagement. Through-coolant lines should be verified clear and connected before running. Follow insert manufacturer torque guidelines for the S14 clamping screw during insert changes.
