The CARMEX SIR0625P16 is an indexable internal threading toolholder designed for right-hand cutting applications. Built to the SIR style, it accepts 16IR inserts and uses a screw-clamping method to secure the insert during operation. The toolholder features a 5/8-inch shank diameter and an overall length of 7 inches, making it suited for boring bar setups on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It does not include a coolant-through feature. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians working on threaded bores will find this holder a direct fit for standard internal threading operations.
This toolholder is intended for internal threading on workpieces requiring a minimum bore diameter of 0.75 inches. The SIR style and 16IR insert compatibility make it appropriate for a range of thread forms depending on the insert selected. It is commonly used in production turning environments and job shops where consistent thread quality in bores is required. The 1.57-inch head length and 0.45-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension allow predictable tool positioning within the bore.
Compatible with 16IR indexable threading inserts. Designed for use in SIR-series toolholder setups on CNC and manual turning centers requiring internal right-hand threading capability.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing or indexing inserts. Secure the shank firmly in the boring bar holder to the machine manufacturer's specified clamping torque using appropriate tooling. Verify insert seating and screw engagement before resuming cutting operations.
