The CARMEX SIR0500L11 is an indexable internal threading toolholder designed for screw-machine and CNC lathe operations requiring precise internal thread cutting. Built in the SIR series, this right-hand holder accepts 11IR inserts secured by a screw-clamping method, providing repeatable insert indexing and rigid tool engagement. The shank measures 5/8 inch square, and the overall length is 5.5 inches, making it well-suited for standard boring bar setups. Minimum bore diameter entry is 0.58 inches, allowing threading in relatively tight bores. No coolant-through provision is included on this model.
This toolholder is used in internal threading applications on CNC lathes, turret lathes, and manual engine lathes across job shops, production machining facilities, and maintenance shops. It is designed for cutting internal threads in workpieces where a 0.58-inch or larger bore diameter is accessible. The right-hand orientation suits standard forward-feed threading passes. Machinists and CNC operators working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials will find this holder appropriate for both inch and metric thread profiles when paired with the correct 11IR insert geometry.
Designed for use with 11IR indexable threading inserts. Fits standard toolholding systems that accept a 5/8 inch square shank boring bar. Consult insert manufacturer charts to match the correct 11IR insert grade and thread profile to the application.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion is locked out before mounting or removing the toolholder. Secure the shank firmly in the turret or boring bar holder to the tool-post manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure. Verify insert seating and screw torque before running any threading cycle, and confirm bore clearance against the 0.58-inch minimum bore diameter to avoid tool-to-workpiece interference.
