The CARMEX S14 is an insert screw designed to secure carbide inserts in indexable thread mill tooling systems. Insert screws are a critical fastening component in indexable cutting tool assemblies, holding the replaceable insert firmly against the tool body during machining operations. The S14 is specified for use with clamp-style retention systems on indexable thread mill holders. Machinists and tooling specialists working in CNC environments rely on properly matched insert screws to maintain insert seating, prevent micro-movement, and protect the tool body pocket from wear during threading cycles.
The S14 insert screw is intended for indexable thread mill applications where clamp hardware is used to retain the cutting insert. Thread mills are used across production machining environments for internal and external thread generation in a wide range of materials. This screw is sold in a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces, making it appropriate for shop stock replenishment or new tooling builds where multiple heads or bodies are being outfitted simultaneously.
Designed for use with clamp-style hardware in CARMEX indexable thread mill tooling systems. Specific body and insert compatibility should be confirmed against CARMEX tooling documentation prior to ordering.
Insert screws should be installed and torqued using the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the tooling manufacturer documentation - do not substitute incorrect drive tools, as this can damage the screw head or strip the pocket thread. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before servicing indexable tooling. Inspect the tool body pocket threads for wear or contamination before installing a new insert screw. Replace insert screws at regular intervals or any time thread engagement feels compromised, as a failed screw can result in insert ejection during cutting.
