The CARMEX MPR2R0.15L5 is a profile boring bar designed for small-bore internal turning and profile operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a bright finish coating, it delivers consistent performance in tight-tolerance bores. The bar features a 0.08 inch minimum bore diameter, a 0.006 inch corner radius, and a right-hand cutting direction, making it suited for finishing passes in precision machining environments. With a 3.00 mm shank diameter and a 1.5 inch overall length, this bar fits compact tooling setups where reach and rigidity are both critical factors. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments install this type of tooling.
This profile boring bar is used in applications requiring precise internal contouring in small-diameter bores. It is applicable in both production and prototype machining environments where bore depth is limited to 13/64 inch and the part geometry calls for a controlled corner radius. The right-hand cutting direction suits standard spindle rotation on most CNC turning equipment. It is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where micrograin carbide grade tooling is specified by the process engineer or programmer.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use profile boring bar for CNC turning centers and lathes accepting a 3.00 mm shank boring bar with right-hand cut orientation.
Profile boring bars of this type are installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or setting tooling. Secure the shank firmly in the boring bar holder to the holder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure, and verify tool overhang does not exceed recommended guidelines for the shank diameter to avoid chatter. Confirm cutting direction and tool offset in the CNC control before running the first part.
