The CARMEX C18I11UNMT7 is a coated solid carbide turning insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 11 threads per inch (TPI). Built to ANSI B1.1-1989 standards, this insert features a submicron carbide substrate with an MT7 manufacturer grade coating that supports consistent thread form and extended tool life in demanding threading operations. The C18 insert style accommodates both left-hand and right-hand orientations, giving machinists flexibility across a range of internal threading setups. This insert is suited for CNC lathes and turning centers where repeatable UN thread profiles are required.
This insert is used in internal threading applications on CNC turning equipment in metalworking environments, including job shops, production machining facilities, and precision manufacturing operations. The UN thread standard makes it applicable to a broad range of fastener and fitting thread profiles in inch-measurement workpieces. The MT7 grade and submicron substrate are appropriate for threading ferrous and non-ferrous materials where edge stability and finish quality are priorities. Machinists performing internal threading passes on bored holes or pre-drilled features will find this insert a direct fit for standard UN toolholders accepting the C18 insert style.
Designed for use with internal threading toolholders accepting the C18 insert style. Verify toolholder specification and insert seat geometry before installation. Minimum order quantity is 3 units; each package contains 1 insert.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for wear or debris before installation to ensure proper insert support and thread accuracy. Do not exceed the cutting parameters recommended by the toolholder and insert manufacturer for the material being threaded.
