The CARMEX C12I16UNMT7 is a coated solid carbide turning insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 16 threads per inch (TPI). Built to the ANSI B1.1-1989 standard, this insert is manufactured from submicron-grade solid carbide with a MT7 manufacturer grade coating, delivering consistent performance in precision threading applications. It is suited for CNC lathes and turning centers where tight thread tolerances are required on internal bores. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a standard indexable toolholder system for high-volume or precision threading work.
This insert is used in internal threading operations on UN-standard fastener profiles at 16 TPI. It supports both left-hand and right-hand thread cutting, making it adaptable to a range of threading setups without requiring separate tooling for each hand orientation. Typical applications include threading internal bores in metal components across general manufacturing, aerospace, and industrial fabrication environments where UN thread form compliance is required.
Designed for use with C12-style indexable threading toolholders configured for internal UN thread cutting. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against the CARMEX C12 insert seat specification before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC operator into a compatible indexable toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and thread accuracy.
