The CARMEX 3/8INRHG60P is a laydown threading insert designed for right-hand internal thread cutting with a partial profile 60-degree included angle. Manufactured from solid carbide uncoated (Grade P-30 / C-5), this insert delivers consistent thread geometry across a thread pitch range of 14 to 8 TPI (1.75 to 3.00 mm). The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.146-inch thickness conform to standard laydown insert geometry. Machinists and tool-room operators use this insert in CNC lathes and turning centers for internal threading operations requiring close tolerances on universal workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for internal threading applications on a broad range of materials including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as reflected in its multi-grade material designation. It is a right-hand partial profile insert, meaning it cuts a 60-degree thread form without producing a fully defined crest or root, making it versatile across multiple thread standards that share the 60-degree flank angle. Typical applications include threading bores on production turning and job-shop work where a single insert covers a range of thread pitches from coarse to fine within the 14-8 TPI band.
Designed for use in toolholders and boring bars that accept the 16IR laydown threading insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Compatible across workpiece material grades H, K, M, N, P, and S for universal threading applications.
Threading inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed safely before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and pitch being cut.
