The CARMEX 27IR4ACMEP25C is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for internal right-hand Acme thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a 29-degree included angle and cuts at 4 threads per inch, conforming to the Acme thread standard. The 5/8-inch (0.625 inches decimal) inscribed circle and 0.251-inch thickness match standard laydown insert pockets. A PVD-applied titanium nitride (TiN) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance. Grade P25C (material grade C5) makes this insert effective across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators performing internal threading operations will find this insert sized and coated for consistent, repeatable thread profiles.
This insert is suited for internal Acme thread production in general machining environments, including job shops, production turning cells, and maintenance repair operations where trapezoidal thread forms are required. The universal primary workpiece material classification means it performs across steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant alloys, and stainless steel. Typical applications include lead screws, power transmission components, and threaded actuator bores requiring a full 29-degree Acme profile at 4 TPI.
Designed as a laydown threading insert replacement for toolholders accepting a 27IR-style, 5/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.251-inch thickness and 29-degree Acme thread form geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque to prevent insert movement during cutting. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris before installation, as contamination under the insert will affect thread geometry and surface finish.
