The CARMEX 22UIR4ACMEP30 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal Acme threads on CNC lathes and threading machines. Running at 4 threads per inch with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 0.187-inch thickness, this uncoated P30-grade carbide insert delivers consistent thread form geometry on a wide range of workpiece materials. The 29-degree included angle matches the Acme thread standard, making it suitable for lead screw, power transmission, and motion-control threading applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians will find this insert compatible with standard 22U-style laydown toolholders in left-hand or right-hand configurations.
This insert is suited for internal Acme threading operations in job shops, production machining, and maintenance environments. The neutral hand designation allows use in both left-hand and right-hand toolholder setups without stocking separate inserts. The P30 carbide grade and bright uncoated finish make it effective across a broad spectrum of workpiece materials including steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys. Typical applications include threading hydraulic cylinder bodies, lead screws, and power transmission components in both light and medium-duty cuts.
Designed for use in 22U-style laydown threading toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with internal Acme thread applications across workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO classification.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or toolroom technicians during CNC lathe or threading machine setup. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Verify insert pocket cleanliness and seat contact before securing the clamping screw to the toolholder torque specification provided by the toolholder manufacturer. Confirm thread pitch and hand orientation against the workpiece drawing before running the first pass.
