The CARMEX 22IR5UNP25C is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal right-hand UN thread cutting at 5 threads per inch (TPI). Built to the 22IR insert style, it features a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.187 inches. The P25C manufacturer grade and C5 material grade make this insert well-suited for general-purpose threading across a broad range of workpiece materials. A PVD-applied TiN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in production environments. This insert is used by machinists and toolroom professionals on CNC lathes and manual threading equipment.
The 22IR5UNP25C is engineered for internal UN thread forms at a 60-degree included angle, making it a standard choice for right-hand internal threading operations on parts requiring 5 TPI profiles. The universal primary workpiece material rating covers a wide range of material grades including ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless, heat-resistant alloys, and cast materials. It is appropriate for both job-shop and production machining environments where consistent thread quality is required. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in 22IR-style laydown threading toolholders configured for internal right-hand UN thread cutting at 5 TPI. Compatible with workpiece material grades coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per the supplier material classification system.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's insert seating and torque procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before changing inserts. Verify that the insert grade and thread profile match the programmed toolpath and workpiece material before beginning a threading pass. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris prior to installation to ensure proper insert positioning and clamping.
