The CARMEX 22ER5STACMEBXC is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external Stub Acme thread forms on CNC lathes and turning centers. It cuts right-hand threads at 5 threads per inch (TPI) with a 29-degree included angle, conforming to the Stub Acme thread standard. The insert carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. With a 0.500-inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.187 inches, it seats into standard ER-style laydown toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for threading operations on a wide range of materials, including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The universal workpiece material designation covers material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, making it a versatile choice for shops that run varied material schedules. Typical applications include lead screws, power transmission components, and mechanical actuator threads where Stub Acme geometry is specified. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per transaction.
Designed for use in 22 ER-style laydown threading toolholders that accept a 0.500-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with CNC lathes and turning centers running external Stub Acme threading cycles across workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine in a safe, locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert; do not overtighten the clamping screw. Verify insert orientation and thread hand before running the first threading pass. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear at regular intervals based on the material being machined.
