The CARMEX 16IR8STACMEMXC is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal Stub Acme threads at 8 threads per inch. It carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance during threading operations. The insert features a 29-degree included angle matching the Stub Acme thread form, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a thickness of 0.146 inches. It is used in CNC lathes and turning centers by machinists and toolroom professionals working on precision threaded components. The MXC manufacturer grade is built from micrograin carbide for tight tolerances and consistent thread form across production runs.
This insert is suited for internal threading applications across a wide range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, nonferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and titanium, as reflected by the universal primary workpiece material classification with material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a right-hand insert, making it compatible with standard right-hand threading cycles on conventional CNC turning equipment. Typical use cases include threading hydraulic actuator bodies, lead screws, and other components requiring the Stub Acme thread form at 8 TPI.
Designed for use in laydown threading insert toolholders accepting a 16IR-style insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Compatible with workpiece material grades coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per standard material classification. Right-hand cut only.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all power is locked out before seating or changing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver to secure the insert to the correct torque specification listed in the toolholder manufacturer documentation, not this insert datasheet. Verify insert orientation for right-hand internal threading before beginning a threading cycle.
