The CARMEX 16IR10ABUTP25C is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for internal American Buttress thread cutting at 10 threads per inch. Manufactured in the P25C grade with a PVD-applied TiN coating, this insert delivers consistent thread form on a wide range of workpiece materials. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches decimal), and the insert thickness is 0.146 inches. The right-hand cutting geometry and zero-degree relief angle are matched to the 16 IR style seat, making this insert a direct fit for compatible laydown threading toolholders used in CNC turning applications.
This insert is suited for internal buttress thread production in general machining environments. American Buttress thread profiles are common in industries requiring high axial load capacity in one direction, including oil field equipment, hydraulic cylinders, and heavy mechanical assemblies. The universal primary workpiece material designation means the P25C grade is compatible with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, cast iron, and non-metallic materials, reducing the need to stock multiple grade variants for a mixed-material shop.
Designed for use in 16 IR style laydown threading toolholders configured for internal American Buttress thread applications. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Installation of threading inserts is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Confirm insert orientation and seating before resuming thread cutting operations.
