The CARMEX 16ERBG60P25 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It cuts a partial profile 60-degree thread form and covers a thread pitch range of 14 to 8 TPI (1.75 to 3.00 mm pitch), making it a versatile choice across a wide range of thread sizes. The insert features a 3/8-inch (0.375-inch decimal) inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.146 inches, and a B-style chipbreaker geometry. A PVD-applied TiN coating extends cutting edge life and reduces built-up edge. The right-hand cutting orientation is standard for conventional external threading passes. This insert is typically installed and managed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians.
The 16ERBG60P25 is suited for external threading on a broad range of workpiece materials. The P25C manufacturer grade and C5 material grade classification position this insert for use across universal material categories, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and other materials corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is appropriate for both production threading and job-shop turning applications where a single insert grade must handle varying material types.
Designed for use in 16ER-series laydown threading toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible across ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S per the universal primary workpiece material classification.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or clamp screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
