The CARMEX 16ER20UNBMA is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 20 threads per inch. Manufactured from submicron-grade solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers consistent thread form and tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 16 ER insert style features a 60-degree included angle standard for UN thread profiles and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle with a 0.146-inch thickness. It is installed in compatible right-hand external threading toolholders and is suited for CNC lathe and turning center applications where repeatable thread quality is required.

This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material grade codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range includes carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The 16ER20UNBMA is appropriate for production threading in both job shop and high-volume manufacturing environments. It is a right-hand insert and cuts external threads only. Installation Notes
