The CARMEX 16ER14ACMEP25C is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for right-hand external Acme thread cutting at 14 threads per inch (TPI). Built to Insert Style 16ER, this insert carries a P25C manufacturer grade and a C5 material grade, making it well-suited for general-purpose threading in steel and cast iron on CNC lathes and threading centers. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating is applied via PVD process to extend edge life and reduce built-up edge during continuous threading passes. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.146 inches, the insert seats securely in compatible 16ER toolholders for repeatable thread profile accuracy.
This insert is intended for machinists and CNC operators producing Acme-profile external threads in production or job-shop environments. The Acme thread form is widely used in lead screws, power transmission components, vises, and linear actuators where load-carrying capacity and wear resistance are priorities. The 14 TPI pitch suits medium to coarse Acme thread applications across a range of workpiece diameters. The right-hand cutting orientation covers the majority of standard Acme threading jobs encountered in general machining operations.
Designed for use in toolholders and threading bars accepting 16ER-style laydown threading inserts. Confirm holder geometry and seating pocket dimensions before installation to ensure proper insert fit and thread profile alignment.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification using a calibrated torque wrench. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or coating damage before each use, and verify thread profile with a thread gauge after the first pass.
