The CARMEX 16ER12ACMEP30 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external Acme thread cutting on CNC and manual lathes. Running at 12 threads per inch (TPI) with a 29-degree included angle, this insert profiles Acme thread forms accurately on a wide range of workpiece materials. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle (0.3750 inches) and 0.146-inch thickness match standard 16 ER toolholder pockets. The uncoated P30 carbide grade delivers consistent edge life on universal material applications. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators performing external threading operations in production or job-shop environments.
The 16ER12ACMEP30 is suited for external Acme threading across a broad material spectrum, including ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, stainless, high-temperature alloys, and cast materials, as indicated by workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It fits standard 16 ER laydown insert pockets and is appropriate for both single-pass and multi-pass threading cycles on horizontal and slant-bed lathes. The right-hand cutting geometry is the standard orientation for conventional thread-turning setups.
Designed to seat in standard 16 ER laydown threading toolholders configured for external Acme thread inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw to secure the insert in the pocket without over-tightening, which can crack carbide. Verify insert seating and thread pitch with a thread gauge before running production parts.
