The CARMEX 16ER10STACMP25C is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external Stub Acme thread cutting at 10 threads per inch (TPI). It carries a P25C manufacturer grade and C5 material grade, placing it in the mid-range carbide category suited for general-purpose threading across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a PVD-applied titanium nitride (TiN) coating for improved wear resistance and longer cutting life. With a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.146 inches, this insert fits standard 16ER-style toolholders. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC lathe operators producing right-hand external Stub Acme thread forms.
This insert is specified for external right-hand Stub Acme threading operations on CNC and manual lathes. The Stub Acme thread form, defined by a 29-degree included angle, is common in linear motion assemblies, jack screws, and feed mechanisms where a full Acme profile is not required. The P25C grade and universal primary workpiece material compatibility make this insert suitable for cutting steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, giving it broad shop-floor versatility across both production and job-shop environments.
Designed to seat in 16ER-style external threading toolholders requiring a 3/8 inch inscribed circle laydown insert for Stub Acme thread forms at 10 TPI.
Installation is performed by machining professionals during toolholder setup on CNC or manual lathes. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key at the manufacturer-specified torque for the toolholder clamp screw - refer to the toolholder documentation for that value. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper insert contact and thread form accuracy.
