The CARMEX 16ER1.0ISOP25C is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external ISO thread turning on CNC lathes and threading operations. It cuts a 60-degree included angle at a 1.0 mm pitch and carries a P25C manufacturer grade with a C5 material grade equivalent, making it suitable for a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a PVD-applied TiN coating for extended edge life and thermal resistance. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a thickness of 0.146 inches, it seats accurately in standard ER-style laydown toolholders. Right-hand orientation is standard for conventional external threading passes.
This insert is suited for external ISO metric threading on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces across light-to-medium production environments. The P25C grade is positioned for general-purpose threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys. It is commonly used on CNC turning centers and manual lathes wherever accurate ISO metric thread profiles are required. The universal workpiece material classification covers material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, making this insert a practical stock item for shops handling varied job work.
Designed for use in standard 16 ER-style laydown threading toolholders. Compatible with external ISO metric threading applications across workpiece material grades H, K, M, N, P, and S as defined by ISO cutting tool material classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not over-tighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will fracture under excess clamp load. Verify insert seating and toolholder cleanliness before returning the machine to service.
