The CARMEX 14I18UNMT7 is a carbide thread mill insert designed for internal threading operations on UN-standard threads at 18 teeth per inch (TPI). Manufactured from submicron carbide in grade MT7 with a TiAlN finish, this insert delivers consistent thread form geometry in demanding milling applications. The TiAlN coating provides elevated heat resistance, making the insert suitable for higher cutting speeds across a range of workpiece materials. At 0.122 inches thick, the insert seats precisely in compatible MT7-grade thread mill bodies. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC machining environments.
This insert is intended for internal UN thread milling conforming to ANSI B1.1-1989. It is suited for shops performing thread milling in place of tapping, particularly where thread quality, blind-hole accuracy, or material hardness make conventional tapping impractical. Typical applications include production machining of threaded bores in ferrous and non-ferrous components across general manufacturing, aerospace, and industrial fabrication environments. The insert style code is 14I with size code 14, confirming fitment to compatible 14-series thread mill holders.
Designed for use with compatible 14-series MT7-grade thread mill holders accepting 14I insert style inserts for internal UN threading applications. Verify holder specifications against insert style code 14I and size code 14 before ordering. Minimum order quantity is 5 units; package quantity is 1.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the tool body manufacturer to secure the insert clamp screw to the correct seating torque per the holder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters specified in the thread mill body manufacturer's programming guide for the MT7 grade and workpiece material combination.
