The CARMEX 11IRA60BMA is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal partial-profile threading operations. It cuts a 60-degree included angle thread and covers a range of 48 to 16 TPI, making it suitable for a wide variety of thread sizes in a single insert. The BMA grade uses a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering strong wear resistance and edge stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. Right-hand cutting geometry suits standard internal thread applications on lathes and turning centers. Machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC turning specialists will encounter this insert in production and job-shop environments alike.
The 11IRA60BMA is intended for right-hand internal threading on CNC lathes and manual turning equipment. The partial-profile design allows the insert to produce a range of thread pitches from 0.50 mm to 1.50 mm (48 to 16 TPI) without requiring a dedicated insert for each pitch. Its universal material grade designation covers steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, reducing tooling inventory requirements in mixed-material shops. The TiAlN coating supports dry or minimal-lubrication cutting where conditions allow.
Designed for use in 11IR-style laydown threading insert holders that accept a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 0.1270-inch thick insert. Verify holder clamping system and seat geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the holder manufacturer - do not over-torque the clamp screw, as this can crack carbide inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting the insert, and confirm thread direction and cutting parameters against the holder manufacturer's recommendations before starting the cut.
