The CARLO GAVAZZI a82-2050 is an AC current transducer designed to convert AC line current into a standardized analog signal for monitoring and control applications. It accepts input currents up to 50 amps AC and delivers a 4-20 mA DC analog output, making it compatible with PLCs, data loggers, building automation systems, and other loop-powered instrumentation. The unit is powered by the loop voltage itself, eliminating the need for a separate power supply. Electrical contractors, controls technicians, and industrial electricians install this transducer in panel or wall-mounted configurations where current measurement and signal transmission are required.
The a82-2050 is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems where AC current monitoring is needed at a fixed measurement range. Typical applications include energy monitoring panels, motor load tracking, HVAC electrical monitoring, and building automation current sensing circuits. The wall-mount design supports surface installation in electrical enclosures or on panel backplates where DIN rail mounting is not available or practical.
Designed as an OEM-style current transducer for use with any loop-powered 4-20 mA input device, including PLCs, analog input modules, and building automation controllers that accept standard current loop signals.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit under measurement before installing or removing the transducer. The 4-20 mA output loop must be properly terminated at the receiving instrument to ensure accurate signal transmission. Do not exceed the 50-amp input rating on the measured conductor.
