The C.H. HANSON 40085 is a split ring fastener made from carbon spring steel with a nickel plated finish. Split rings use a coiled, overlapping construction that allows them to flex open for attachment and snap back to retain keys, tags, cables, or other components under load. This ring has a 2-inch inside diameter, an outside diameter of 2.313 inches (59mm), and a thickness of 0.188 inches (5mm). Each package contains 100 rings. These are stocked for general industrial, mechanical, and trade applications where a reliable retaining ring or key-ring style fastener is needed.
This split ring is suited for use in light mechanical assemblies, key fob and tag applications, wire management, tool tethering, and general fastening tasks. The nickel plated carbon spring steel construction provides corrosion resistance and maintains spring tension across repeated open-and-close cycles. Sold in a package of 100, this SKU is appropriate for shop stock, maintenance carts, and job-site supply bins where consistent availability is needed.
Designed as a general-purpose split ring for standard key ring, tag retention, and mechanical fastening applications requiring a 2-inch inside diameter retaining ring.
Split rings can be opened using a split ring plier or a small flat tool inserted into the coil gap — avoid using fingers alone to prevent hand injury on repetitive installs. No tools, torque values, or power systems are required for installation. Store unused rings in a dry environment to preserve the nickel plated finish and spring temper of the steel.
