The BURNDY BIBS600-3 is a multiple tap connector designed for joining aluminum and copper conductors in electrical distribution and splicing applications. It accepts conductor sizes from 4 AWG up to 600 KCMIL for both aluminum and copper, making it a wide-range, inventory-reducing option for electricians working on medium and large feeder runs. The body is constructed from AL6061-T6 aluminum covered in clear plastisol, which allows visual confirmation that conductors are fully seated before final torque. Oxide inhibitor comes pre-installed to block moisture and contaminants from the contact zone. Voltage rating is 600 volts with a temperature rating of 90 degrees C.
This connector is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where multiple conductors must be tapped from a single run without splicing kits or tape-wrapped connections. The single-side cable entry simplifies routing in tight enclosures, panels, or junction boxes. Three ports accommodate multiple tap conductors simultaneously. The range-taking design reduces the number of connector sizes a crew needs to carry on the job. Licensed electricians install this type of connector in accordance with NEC requirements for splicing and tapping of conductors.
Designed for use with aluminum and copper conductors ranging from 4 AWG to 600 KCMIL stranded. Listed under UL 486B and CSA for aluminum and copper conductor terminations. RoHS compatible.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any connections. A 3/8 inch hex key is required to drive the three set screws. Do not mix conductor materials in a single port unless the connector is rated and listed for that application.
