The BUNTING BEARING BJ4S040604 is a plain-bore sleeve bearing manufactured from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). It provides a low-friction, self-lubricating bearing surface for rotating or oscillating shafts in light- to medium-duty applications. The bore measures 0.25 inches in diameter, the outside diameter is 0.375 inches, and the overall length is 0.5 inches. The PTFE construction eliminates the need for external lubrication in most service conditions, making it well suited for environments where grease or oil cannot be introduced. Mechanical technicians, maintenance professionals, and equipment assemblers install this bearing type during new builds or as a replacement in existing machinery.
This sleeve bearing is used in small-bore shaft applications across a wide range of equipment including fans, pumps, small motors, appliances, and light industrial machinery. Its compact dimensions make it appropriate for tight-clearance designs where a standard bronze or sintered bushing may not be suitable. The plain bore accepts a 0.25-inch shaft and presses into a 0.375-inch bore housing. Both residential and commercial equipment applications are common for bearings in this size range.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation sleeve bearing for equipment with a 0.25-inch shaft and a 0.375-inch housing bore requiring a plain-bore PTFE bushing.
Installation is typically performed by mechanical technicians or maintenance personnel. De-energize and lock out all power to the equipment before removing or installing any bearing. A bearing press or appropriately sized arbor should be used to seat the sleeve squarely into the housing bore; do not drive the bearing in at an angle or use impact tools directly on the bearing face. Verify shaft-to-bore clearance is within the equipment manufacturer's specification before returning the unit to service.
