The BSC PREFERRED QJDIB-GT-006 is a 1/2-inch glass tile drill bit engineered for precision drilling through glass, ceramic tile, and similar hard, brittle materials. The carbide tip provides the hardness needed to penetrate these surfaces without fracturing them, while the exact point start geometry reduces bit walking at the point of contact. The result is a clean, controlled entry hole with minimal chipping. This bit is suited for tile setters, plumbers, glaziers, and general tradespeople who regularly drill into tile backsplashes, shower walls, glass panels, and similar finished surfaces.
This bit is intended for use in residential and light commercial applications where drilling into glass or ceramic tile is required. Typical scenarios include installing grab bars, shower fixtures, faucet hardware, and electrical boxes through tiled surfaces. The 1/2-inch diameter makes it appropriate for standard anchor and sleeve installations commonly found in bathroom and kitchen tile work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks and rotary drilling equipment used in glass and ceramic tile applications.
A licensed tile setter, plumber, or general contractor typically installs hardware requiring tile drilling. Before drilling, secure the tile surface and use a center punch or tape to stabilize the start point and reduce slippage. Apply steady, moderate pressure and use water or a cooling lubricant to reduce heat buildup, which can crack glass or glaze ceramic. Do not use hammer or impact mode when drilling glass or ceramic tile.
