The BSC PREFERRED QJDIB-DB-042 is a cobalt drill bit designed for industrial-grade drilling in hard and abrasive materials. It features a 135-degree split point geometry that starts cuts quickly and prevents the bit from walking on contact, which is critical when working on smooth or curved metal surfaces. The stronger core construction resists breakage under load and delivers up to 9 times the service life of standard black oxide bits. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and electricians routinely use cobalt bits when drilling through stainless steel, titanium, and similar hard alloys during equipment installation and fabrication work.
This bit is suited for use in stainless steel, titanium, and other hard abrasive metals encountered in commercial and residential trade work. It also performs in wood and PVC, making it a practical option for multi-trade applications on a single job site. The 7/16 inch diameter fits common drill chucks and right-angle drill attachments used throughout the trades. It is sold individually, one bit per unit.
Designed as a direct-use cobalt drill bit for any 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch keyed or keyless drill chuck accepting standard round-shank bits, for use in hard abrasive materials including stainless steel and titanium.
A licensed trade professional or qualified technician should select the appropriate drill speed for the material being drilled, as cobalt bits perform best at lower RPM settings with steady feed pressure on hard metals. Always secure the workpiece before drilling and use cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling stainless steel or titanium to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Wear appropriate eye and hand protection per job site safety requirements.
