The BSC PREFERRED PS5930 is a high-tensile polyester strapping roll designed as a direct functional replacement for steel strapping in industrial bundling and unitizing applications. Polyester strapping delivers comparable holding strength to steel while eliminating corrosion risk and reducing roll weight significantly. The PS5930 is UV resistant, making it suitable for outdoor storage and shipping environments. It is compatible with serrated or sandpaper-style seals and is well suited for securing heavy loads on pallets, lumber, pipe, and similar materials. Packaging and shipping professionals, warehouse crews, and distribution center operators are the primary users.
The PS5930 is used in commercial and industrial packaging operations where steel strapping has traditionally been specified. Typical applications include securing palletized goods, bundling pipe or lumber, and unitizing heavy freight for ground or intermodal shipment. The polyester construction retains tension longer than polypropylene strapping, making it a preferred choice for loads that settle or compress during transit. It is also used where corrosion from steel strapping could damage product surfaces or finishes.
The PS5930 is equivalent to part number S-2701 and is comparable to Signode 1716 steel strapping. Designed as an OEM-style replacement for standard steel strapping applications using serrated or sandpaper seals.
Polyester strapping is installed using manual tensioners, pneumatic strapping tools, or strapping machines rated for polyester material. Always confirm the tool and seal type are matched to the strap width and thickness before tensioning. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling strapping under tension, as release can cause snap-back injury. Inspect seals after tensioning to confirm full crimp engagement before releasing the tensioner.
