The BSC PREFERRED DIB855-60 is a rubber tailpiece washer designed to create a watertight seal between a sink tailpiece and a basket strainer. Measuring 1-3/4 inches in outside diameter, 1-3/8 inches in inside diameter, and 1/8 inch thick, this washer seats into the basket strainer cup and compresses against the tailpiece flange to prevent leaks under the sink. It is a standard consumable used during drain assembly, repair, and replacement in residential and light commercial plumbing applications. Plumbers and drain technicians keep this washer on hand as a routine service item.
This washer is used in kitchen and utility sink drain assemblies where a standard tailpiece connects to a basket strainer. It is commonly installed during new drain rough-ins, fixture replacements, and leak repairs. The 1-3/4 inch OD and 1-3/8 inch ID dimensions correspond to standard 1-1/2 inch nominal tailpiece fittings. Each unit is sold individually, packed one per card, making it straightforward to stock for service calls or include in a parts kit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement washer for standard residential and light commercial sink drain assemblies using a 1-1/2 inch nominal tailpiece and basket strainer connection.
This part is typically installed by a licensed plumber or experienced drain technician. Before servicing the drain assembly, shut off the water supply and clear standing water from the sink basin. Seat the washer squarely in the strainer cup before threading the tailpiece slip nut to avoid cross-threading or uneven compression. Do not overtighten the slip nut, as excessive force can deform the rubber and cause leakage rather than prevent it.
