The BSC PREFERRED 176-132 is a 12-inch polystyrene miter box designed for making accurate, repeatable crosscuts and angled cuts in wood trim, molding, and similar stock. Built from high-impact polystyrene, the box maintains its shape under repeated saw strokes without flexing or shifting. Three fixed cutting slots guide a handsaw at 45, 90, and 135 degrees, eliminating the need for a protractor or layout tools on straightforward cuts. An integrated ruler scale runs along the base for quick length measurement without repositioning the workpiece. This tool is a standard shop and jobsite aid used by carpenters, trim installers, and general tradespeople.
The 176-132 fits residential and light commercial trim work, staging, and temporary framing tasks where a power miter saw is unavailable or impractical. It is suited for cutting door casing, baseboard, chair rail, PVC trim, and similar profiles. The 12-inch capacity accommodates standard trim widths, and the fixed-angle slots are adequate for the most common cut angles encountered in finish work and rough carpentry alike.
Designed for use with standard handsaw blades; compatible with most crosscut and miter handsaws sized for general woodworking and trim applications.
No power source or fasteners are required for setup. Secure the miter box to a stable work surface or clamp it to a sawhorse to prevent movement during cuts. Keep fingers clear of the saw slot openings at all times. Select a saw blade appropriate for the material being cut to maintain clean edges and extend the life of the box slots.
