The BSC PREFERRED 176-123 is a bi-metal hacksaw blade designed for heavy-duty cutting of higher carbon and alloy steels. Sold as a 2-pack, each blade measures 12 inches in length with an 18-tooth-per-inch (TPI) configuration. The bi-metal construction bonds a high-speed steel cutting edge to a flexible alloy steel back, combining hardness at the tooth with toughness through the body. This construction resists shattering under load and outlasts standard carbon steel blades in demanding applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, electricians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this blade in both shop and field settings.
This blade is suited for cutting ferrous metals including higher carbon steels, alloy steels, pipe, conduit, and structural bar stock. The 18 TPI tooth count handles medium to thick cross-sections effectively, making it a standard choice for trade work where a coarser blade would strip and a finer blade would clog. Both blades in the pack fit standard 12-inch hacksaw frames.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 12-inch hacksaw frames used in metalworking, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trade applications.
Hacksaw blades are installed and replaced by hand without specialized tools. Ensure the hacksaw frame tension is set correctly before cutting to prevent blade flex and premature tooth wear. Always wear appropriate eye and hand protection when cutting metal. Dispose of worn blades safely to avoid laceration hazards.
