The BRYANT ELECTRIC BDS56U is a bus drop support grip designed to secure and strain-relieve suspended bus drop cables in commercial and industrial electrical installations. Built from galvanized steel, the BDS56U uses a split mesh, rod closing, single eye configuration that allows the grip to be installed around an existing cable without threading. The split mesh design clamps firmly around the cable bundle as load is applied, distributing tension evenly and preventing slippage. This fitting is rated for cable or conduit bundles ranging from 0.56 inches to 0.73 inches in diameter. Electricians and electrical contractors install this hardware when hanging vertical bus drop assemblies from overhead support structures.
The BDS56U is suited for commercial and industrial settings where bus drop cables are suspended vertically from busway or structural overhead supports. The single eye termination connects directly to a support hook or rod, making it a straightforward fit in standard bus drop installation layouts. The rod closing feature allows the eye to be closed around the mounting rod after positioning, eliminating the need to disassemble the support structure during installation. This grip is commonly used by licensed electricians performing busway installation, modification, or maintenance work in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and commercial buildings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation strain relief grip for suspended bus drop cable assemblies with an outside diameter between 0.56 inches and 0.73 inches.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements for support and strain relief of electrical conductors and raceways. De-energize and lock out the busway system before handling any bus drop components. Open the split mesh around the cable bundle, position the single eye over the support rod, and close the rod eye before applying load. Do not exceed the cable diameter range of 0.56 inches to 0.73 inches, as oversized or undersized bundles will not seat correctly in the mesh.
