The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. GBD80018 is a flexible cylinder hone designed for finishing, deglaz­ing, and surface conditioning of cylindrical bores. It uses silicon carbide abrasive balls at 180 grit (extra fine grade) mounted on a twisted wire stem to produce a controlled crosshatch pattern on bore walls. The hone accommodates bores up to 8 inches in diameter and has an overall length of 17.5 inches. At a maximum operating speed of 300 RPM, it is well-suited for use with a standard hand drill or drill press. The 0.42-inch shank diameter fits common chuck sizes used in machining and engine rebuilding work.

This hone is used in applications where bore surface finish is critical to proper component seating and lubrication retention. Suitable materials include mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, making it appropriate for engine cylinder bores, hydraulic cylinders, compressor cylinders, and similar applications.
