The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. BC9M18 is a flexible cylinder hone designed for precision bore finishing in tight cylindrical passages. It uses silicon carbide abrasive balls bonded to flexible filaments, allowing the tool to self-center and conform to the bore as it works. The extra fine 180-grit rating makes it suited for finish honing, light material removal, and surface conditioning rather than aggressive stock removal. With an overall length of 8 inches and a maximum bore diameter of 0.35 inches, it is built for small-bore applications. HVAC service techs, machinists, and engine rebuilders use this tool with a standard drill or drill press.
This hone is sized for small-diameter bores up to 0.35 inches, making it practical for valve bodies, hydraulic cylinders, small engine cylinders, and similar tight passages. The 2-inch abrasive length provides consistent contact across a short working zone. Compatible material applications include mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, covering a wide range of common service scenarios in mechanical and industrial settings. The 0.14-inch shank diameter fits standard drill chucks without an adapter in most cases.
Designed for bore finishing in mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron components with bore diameters up to 0.35 inches. Fits drill chucks via the 0.14-inch shank diameter.
Install the shank into a drill or drill press chuck and secure firmly before operation. Do not exceed 1200 RPM. Use a compatible cutting fluid or honing oil to reduce heat and extend abrasive life. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before beginning the honing pass.
