The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. BC95M12 is a flexible cylinder hone designed for fine surface finishing inside bores and cylinders. It uses silicon carbide abrasive at 120 grit to produce a consistent, controlled finish on mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The hone measures 8 inches in overall length with a 2-inch abrasive length and a 0.14-inch shank diameter. It is rated for a maximum of 1,200 RPM. Machinists, engine rebuilders, and maintenance technicians use this tool to restore cylinder wall geometry and improve ring seal in small-bore applications.
This hone is suited for use on small bores up to 3/8 inch in diameter, making it a practical choice for hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic components, small engine bores, and precision mechanical assemblies. It is typically used in machine shops, repair facilities, and field maintenance environments where bore surface condition directly affects component performance and service life.
Designed for use on mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron bores up to 3/8 inch in maximum diameter. Suitable for any application requiring fine-grade cylinder honing within those material and size parameters.
This tool is installed into a standard drill chuck using the 0.14-inch shank. Before honing, secure the workpiece firmly and ensure the bore is clean and free of debris. Do not exceed the rated 1,200 RPM to avoid abrasive damage or unsafe flex. Use an appropriate honing oil or cutting fluid compatible with the workpiece material to extend abrasive life and improve surface finish quality.
