Product Description

The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. BC582500CD is a flexible cylinder hone designed for precision finishing and deburring of small-bore cylindrical surfaces. It uses diamond abrasive at 2500 grit (extra fine grade) to produce a controlled surface finish in hard, wear-resistant materials including carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel. The hone runs on a standard drill or honing machine at up to 1000 RPM. With an overall length of 8 inches and a shank diameter of 0.19 inches, it fits most common rotary tool chucks. The abrasive section spans 2.5 inches, and the tool accommodates bore diameters up to 0.625 inches.

This hone is suited for machine shops, toolrooms, and maintenance operations where tight-tolerance bores in hard materials require finishing that conventional abrasives cannot achieve. Typical applications include deburring valve bores, finishing carbide die inserts, cleaning up ceramic guide bores, and honing hardened steel hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder bores. The flexible ball-style abrasive segments conform to the bore geometry, making this tool effective on both straight and slightly tapered or irregular bores in industrial and production settings.

Key Features

  • Diamond abrasive at 2500 grit delivers extra fine surface finish on hard materials
  • Compatible with carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel workpieces
  • Maximum bore diameter of 0.625 inches suits small precision bores
  • 2.5-inch abrasive length provides adequate contact zone in short and through-bores
  • 0.19-inch shank diameter fits standard drill chucks and honing machine spindles
  • Maximum operating speed of 1000 RPM for controlled, low-heat material removal

Compatibility

Designed for use in bores up to 0.625 inches in diameter in carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel applications. Intended for use with standard rotary tools, drill presses, or honing machines accepting a 0.19-inch shank.

Installation Notes

A licensed machinist or skilled tradesperson should secure the shank firmly in the chuck before use and confirm the tool runs true with minimal runout. Do not exceed 1000 RPM during operation. Apply a compatible honing oil or coolant to the bore to extend abrasive life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the abrasive segments for wear before each use and replace the tool if segments show uneven or excessive wear.
