The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. BC20M12 is a flexible cylinder hone designed for finishing and deglazed bore surfaces in engine cylinders, hydraulic cylinders, and similar bored components. Built around silicon carbide abrasive at 120 grit (fine grade), it delivers consistent surface finishing on mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron bores. The tool runs on a standard drill or honing machine and operates up to 1000 RPM. With an overall length of 8 inches and a 0.19-inch shank diameter, it fits most standard chucks. The abrasive section measures 2.5 inches in length, targeting bores up to 0.787 inches in diameter.
This hone is suited for small-bore applications in engine rebuilding, hydraulic component service, and precision machining shops. It is commonly used by machinists, engine builders, and maintenance technicians working on small internal combustion engines, pneumatic cylinders, and hydraulic actuators. The flexible ball-style abrasive segments conform to the bore during rotation, helping to remove glaze and establish a proper crosshatch finish in preparation for ring seating or seal installation.
Designed for use on small-bore cylinders in mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications where the bore diameter is at or below 0.787 inches.
This tool is installed by machinists or engine technicians using a variable-speed drill or dedicated honing machine. Before use, ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the bore is clean and free of debris. Do not exceed 1000 RPM during operation. Apply honing oil or appropriate cutting fluid to the bore surface to extend abrasive life and improve surface finish quality.
