The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. BC18M2500CD is a flexible cylinder hone designed for precision finishing and light material removal in small-bore applications. Built with diamond abrasive at an extra fine 2500 grit, it delivers a consistent, controlled finish on hard materials including carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel. The hone features a 0.709-inch maximum bore diameter and an overall length of 8 inches, making it well suited for tight, precise bores where conventional rigid tooling cannot reach. The flexible ball-style construction allows the abrasive stones to self-center and follow the bore, reducing the risk of taper or bell-mouth conditions. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision shop technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This hone is intended for small-bore finishing operations on hard substrates such as carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel. It is used in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments where surface finish and bore geometry are critical. With a 2.5-inch abrasive length and a 0.190-inch shank diameter, it mounts in a standard drill chuck or honing spindle and runs at a maximum of 1000 RPM. Applications include deburring, surface refinement, and removing minor irregularities from precision bores in tooling, dies, and mechanical components.
Designed for use on carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel bore surfaces. Compatible with standard drill chucks and honing spindle setups accepting a 0.190-inch shank diameter.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists or precision tooling technicians using a drill press, hand drill, or dedicated honing machine. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured before beginning the honing operation. Do not exceed the rated maximum speed of 1000 RPM, as over-speed can cause abrasive stone failure or bore damage. Use a compatible honing oil or coolant as appropriate for the workpiece material to extend abrasive life and maintain finish quality.
